The Top Of The Current NFL Standings

Posted on 27. Sep, 2013 by in NFL

When you look at the top of the current NFL standings, you will see that there are still a number of undefeated teams. This early in the season, that is not too surprising, but it can tell you a bit about what might happen down the road. After all, the vast majority of teams to start out at 3-0 or 4-0 tend to make the playoffs. It would take quite a meltdown to miss the playoffs, like what the Denver Broncos did when they went 6-0 and then finished at 8-8.

Speaking of the Broncos, though, they are right there at the top. They are 3-0, going into a game with Philly on Sunday. Not only are they 3-0, but they have put up some historic numbers while doing it. They have scored an average of about 40 points per game, putting up 49 in the first game alone. Manning has thrown 12 touchdowns and no interceptions, tying Vick’s record for the most TD passes without a pick to start a season. He could break it against Philly, a team that has not been playing stellar defense.

In the NFC, the Seahawks are streaking forward. In many ways, their most impressive victory came against the 49ers, a team that everyone thought they would be evenly matched with based on last year. Instead, they stomped them and took control of the division. It is early, but things are looking good for them.

In fact, when you look at the current NFL standings, it seems quite likely that the Denver Broncos and the Seahawks, both sitting at the top, will meet in the Super Bowl. If they can stay healthy, the two teams are moving swiftly toward what would really be an epic matchup for that final game of the NFL season.
