The 2013 NBA Finals

Posted on 18. Jun, 2013 by in NBA

Every June, the top team from both the Eastern and Western NBA conference match up in the NBA Finals to determine who will win the NBA championship.  This year, the NBA Finals appear to be about as competitive as they will get as the top seed from each conference advanced all the way to the finals as the Miami Heat take on the San Antonio Spurs.

Heading into the 2013 Finals, the Miami Heat were slight favorites to win the title.  Led by Lebron James and Dwyane Wade, the Heat had a pretty easy time handling the other teams that they faced on the way to the finals.  While the Heat did appear to have an edge, the Spurs also looked quite strong heading into the Finals. Led by Tim Duncan and Tony Parker, the Spurs ran through the Western Conference Finals by sweeping the Memphis Grizzlies.

Through five games of the Finals, the series has been just as competitive as expected.  The Spurs do have three games to two lead, and are just one win away from winning the title, but the Heat have been in every game and have shown the ability to beat the Spurs when it matters the most.  Games 6 and 7 of the Finals will both take place in Miami, where the Heat have been next to unbeatable throughout the regular season and playoffs thus far.  Regardless of the outcome, the last two games of the series are bound to be very competitive and extremely exciting to watch.
